Aloha Friday: What’s Your Favorite Thanksgiving Tradition?

Fridays are a wonderful time to gather our thoughts and reflect on our week. If you’d like to join in the list of topics, head on over to An Island Life and join in the discussion.

Thanksgiving is upon us, and one of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions is to make our famous “Cranberry Crunch Casserole” with my daughters. It’s healthy (fresh apples and cranberries), sweet (all kids & adults love that part), and we usually end up in a major cranberry food-fight mid way through preparation. Yes, nothing quite says “Thanksgiving” in our family like a good old fashion food fight!

Question:

With the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday upon us, what is your favorite Thanksgiving family tradition? Do you like stuffing your face with your Uncle Ted until your button pops? Is it the football game on TV or the one you play in the yard before dinner with friends and family? Or is it the time you spend baking pumpkin pie with your children?

I saw something similar to this on Twittermoms and I was stopped in my tracks then too. I have no idea what family traditions we have for Thanksgiving. I guess just that we always go to my mom’s house to hang with the family. There really isn’t much else that I do. Maybe as my kids get older it will change.

  2. It’s putting up the Christmas tree the day after!

Just spending time with family……and eating!

  4. Karen says:

My kids always dress up with their cousins and put on a little First Thanksgiving play, make homemade butter in jars, and read Thanksgiving stories…just having a house full of food, fun, and tradition makes every year memorable.

  5. Jennifer says:

Going out to find a Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and decorating that whole weekend.

  6. Getting time to spend with family. The yummy food helps, too.

    All the lovely aromas!
