ProActive Parenting™ Seminar Giveaway, Value $149!

May 3, 2009 by Elizabeth Donovan, M. A.

As a mom of three little girls, I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and stressed to-the-max. Even with my psychological training, nothing quite prepares you for parenthood and we all have days when the slightest mishap can make us feel like the world will come crashing down around us.

Understandably, when parents feel overwhelmed they tend to overreact when it comes to parenting their children. This makes for a difficult tug-of-war between parent and child. But did you know that it takes just seconds to turn a potentially explosive situation into one with a positive outcome? And, more importantly, make it an opportunity to teach your child valuable coping skills.

Like anything in life, you just need the right tools for the job.

That’s where Sharon Silver, founder of ProActive Parenting™, can step in to help. She’s a mom, an educator, and a powerful speaker who’s positive parenting approach has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show in an episode entitled: “Hitting, Spanking, Smacking: Should it happen to your child?.” Her mission has always been to create programs that help parents focus on what else can be done instead of going straight to punishment. ProActive Parenting™ is the result of that mission. She TEACHES our children the correct way to act while making the lives of parents less stressful and more fulfilling.

What is the ProActive Parenting™ philosophy?

The philosophy behind ProActive Parenting™ is based in the use of discipline instead of punishment, and the fact that you’re too busy! You’re too busy to read another book on parenting theory, you’re too busy to go through another seminar where the method is explained but never really applied to your real everyday life. You’re just too busy!”

It’s the perfect way to help parents who don’t have a lot of time, but want to make every moment with their child count.

What does ProActive Parenting™ offer parents?

Proactive Parenting is here to support parents as they lovingly teach their toddlers and preschoolers the basics. Things like how my parents handle saying no, interrupting, whining and potty mouth, running and wild behavior, self control, and listening. This type of education is not only crucial to the foundation of any child; it stops parental yelling and exhaustion and it’s what creates a well-balanced, well-behaved child who is respectful to him/her self and others. Without those basics a child’s relationship with family or with him/her self can flounder.

Let ProActive Parenting™ show you how to handle the situations you deal with each and every day by using discipline–which is teaching as you correct behavior, not punishment. Shifting from punishment and yelling to using discipline will allow the parent/child relationship to remain loving and respectful as you set clear boundaries giving you the kind of family you always dreamed of. “

I really love the fact that ProActive Parenting™ understands that time is valuable to parents while also recognizing that our children come first. Making time to become “better parents” doesn’t have to be exhaustive or expensive. That’s why I’m a BIG FAN of their “downloadable seminars” that the address every day issues parents raising preschoolers face like “how to stop yelling so your child will listen” or “how to curb whining and ‘potty talk’ behavior.” Parents will be able to relate immediately to ProActive Parenting’s wide variety of topics for the preschool years (ages 1-6).

The best part? The seminars are AFFORDABLE and you can enjoy them in the privacy of your own home on your own time. Choose from a variety of topics and pick the ones that apply to your parenting dilemma. It’s analogous to bringing your own private expert into your home to help you nurture your relationship with your child – just grab your cup of tea, sit down in a cozy chair (after the kids have gone to bed of course), and start learning NOW how to proactively parent!

Wanna WIN your own seminar package valued at $149? ProActive Parenting is giving away their Everyday Solution Series which includes 10 seminars! It’s like having your own personal parenting expert in your home to help you through some of the most difficult stages of your preschooler’s development!

Just visit ProActiveParenting.net and leave a comment noting which seminar you can’t wait to put to use in your home. That’s it! Remember, to be eligible to win, you MUST let me know which seminar you are excited to try!

yelling , whining and the one for preschoolers! Shoot, all of them or any would be great! Our 4 yr old thinks he runs the roost…it is a daily struggle of who has the most energy and stamina. He who has more…wins. Blah. Would love to win this so so much! I struggle with discipline with him since his allergies and Eczema have left him so vulnerable to struggles. Out of pity, I go so easy on him. Too easy on him. He yells, whines, and plays hard-ball all day long. But then, smothers me with “I love you mama” oooh that boy of mine!!! Gotta love him.

Great! It’s good to know that someone is offering a common sense approach to parenting. In my line of work, I see the “bad” parenting skills of soooo many! Caring is a great start for raising children and I see so many lacking that part. Consistency is another MUST in parenting! Thanks for sharing the series. I will put a link on our site and blog to help promote the series!!!

  10. I would love to see the siblings one. You didn’t ask, but if I win, I could use this in my work….I’m a social worker and one of the things I offer is parenting education. So….I would love, love, love to win! I did subscribe to ProActive Parenting newsletter….will subscribe to your blog (thought I already was….but maybe not)…and I’ll add your button to my blog. Not sure how many extra entries that adds, but a few :0)

I would love the one on interupting – boy that would come in so handy for my daughter as soon as my husband or I have a conversation she has to tell me something so important it just can’t wait – same goes with the phone.

  12. Wow. We NEED this. My very headstrong toddler really vexes my husband, and sometimes, she gets the best of me. I think our first choice would be the very first one (How to Respond NOT React), but Self Control would also be very valuable for us.

  13. Paula Harmon says:

I’d start with #5-Siblings, my kids are always against each other. Then I’d quickly move on to potty mouth. My 3 yr. old hears her older brothers say stupid and idiot and she won’t stop saying it. Everything is stupid, or an idiot. Help!

  16. Tammy OHagan says:

I am a homeschooling mom of a 7 year old. The Self-control seminar, would help our household tremendously. We pulled our daughter our of public school half way through her Kindergarten year because she could not sit and do group activities, she was too excited and wanted to “play”. Self-Control was and still is our biggest issue! The schools solution was to sit her in front of the class and allow her to color in a coloring book, while the other students went about their educational endeavors.

Since then, we have spent a year and a half homeschooling and she is doing extremely well educationally, but after MANY—- MANY Parenting books, she is still having a difficult time with self control. She KNOWS she’s not allowed to do something and will do it anyway and then say, “yes I know I’m not suppose to BUT I forgot!”

I’m at my witts end and don’t know what else to try…

    Thanks
