A few of my favorite "Pink" things.

I’m in the business of everything “Pink.” So, when Pinkerbell and Pandi decided to add items to their rapidly growing Christmas list, I decided that it was time for mommy to step in and gently “recommend” some of my favorite things (aka, “No, you cannot have that stupid Kung Fu Panda stuffed animal that talks”). Like Oprah but without all the drama.

So in I stepped.

And then I got stepped on -

by a couple of scheming little girls who decided that mommy’s not cool enough to know what they like.

Humph, they have a lot to learn. I’ve got Santa on my side

Since I know that they love pink, I went with it. I decided to get sneaky and slip in a few toys that will make them use their imagination and creativity. Ya, I know, you’re wondering if toys like that exist anymore?

Yep, they do. No technology. Notta.

Not that I’m against all of the ultra cool high-tech gadgety stuff, but for God’s sake if I hear Pinkerbell ask for one more battery-powered stuffed animal I am going to loooooose it!

Seriously. I must stop the stuffed animal madness that has become my home.

Pinkerbell sneered and Pandi crossed her arms in anticipation of the “yucky mommy toys” (ahem, their words I swear) I was going to recommend to their new best friend Santa.

I read the list aloud with a faint smile of satisfaction on my face. I know them far better than they think I do.

Told ya there was a lot of pink involved. Listed the prices and stores in case you simply can’t resist the temptation. And no, I’m not buying everything on this list, but come on, that Schwinn Pink Trike is to die for! Heck, I want one (ya, can you just see me now peddling to the PTA meeting…sad thing is, I actually can).

Once I made the case for some of Santa’s best “pink” thingamabobbers- none of which included any walking, talking, stuffed animals – I glanced into their wide blue eyes. Without warning, my daughters immediately started fighting over who would get what. Yep, they fell for it- hook, line, and sinker. Santa is forcing them to use their brains and braun this year and they have no clue he’s doing it.

Am I a bad mom for dangling “pink” in front of them to get them to forget about that stupid FurReal life sized Triceratops that costs $149 big ones? Nope. I will use my manipulation might while I still can, though only for the powers of good.

One day they will thank me for passing up the kick-butt pink mini MP3 Player (ugh, it’s so cute though).

Right now I have to break up the fighting before Santa’s Pink list becomes null and void.

Soooo very clever. I do the same thing with my girls… down to taking them to amazon to check out the reviews from people who figured out the hard way that toys my kids saw on the Nickelodeon commercial don’t really fly/swim/talk/poop/cure cancer like the commercial said they do. Then I lead them over to another toy that I can afford/actually works, and they buy it, hook, line, and sinker. Santa’s the man!

lol My kids want that darn dinosaur too! Drives me crazy! What makes people think I want to spend over $200 on ONE toy for Christmas?! I’m guilty of buying things I know the kids will actually PLAY with vs something that they’ll get bored with within a few days.

  3. Lynnie says:

Good job, mom! Although my girls have not become totally pinkies (yet), I love that so many toys have the pink option. We do have the purple and pink legos and I have stopped in front of the purple and pink tinker toys at least a dozen times, so we’ll probably get that soon too!

  4. Cathy says:

Lol, my little one is into stuffed toys lately. But we are not into the Christmas list yet, I can’t imagine what mine will be.

All I can say, your husband was destined to be surrounded by beautiful girls and lots of pinkness, lol.

  5. Stephanie says:

I love the pink tinker toys. I have passed my need for pink on to my daughter. She would love them.

  6. Petra says:

Nice job you little conniving mommy! Those toys are adorable and I love pink so I would buy any of them. Especially the trike – love it!

I’m so impressed, this is pink I can handle…not a Barbie or Princess theme in the bunch. My son was also leaning toward the overpriced oversized Triceratops, but it’s so not happening.

  8. Michelle says:

I do love that pink tinkertoy box. I saw that at the store and put it on my daughters list!

  9. I love all that pink!! Your girls will go nuts! And I love that they are all toys that require their imagination and/or keep them active and moving!!

If I may be so bold as to suggest one more toy. We purchased Wedgits for Poppy a few years ago and I recently saw that they now come in pink and purple. http://www.wedgits.com Poppy loves this toy because she can make so many things. I love it because it is not only fun to play with as an adult, but it is also encouraging spatial abilities. I expect her to be making a scale model of the Mississippi River valley soon.

  11. Rachel says:

    That pink bike IS adorable!

Plus — its your house. . . . when they are grown up and have THEIR houses, they can buy all of the noisy toys they want!

  12. My girl is starting to love pink, too. If she’s already got a yellow paci in her mouth, and she spies a pink one, she’ll switch them! Oh boy, I’m in trouble, aren’t I?

  13. Jen says:

Pink Tinker Toys! Gotta have them. Hmmm. Are they for me or the girls??? Jen

  14. Elizabeth – I LOVE Santa’s Pink List! That is so great! Mmmhm, it’s all about the girls in our worlds!
